    What: Feed Avalon will be holding a course of 8 workshops over September and October 2021. They will either be ‘Garden to Plate’ or ‘Home Herbal Remedies’.

    Who: We will be teaching some of the workshops and inviting in guest tutors.

    Where: Taking place at The Red Brick Community Garden.

    When: Tuesdays at 1-3pm.

    Fee: The courses are free for anyone to attend

    How: If you are interested to attend, please book a place with julia@feedavalon.org.uk so we have an idea of numbers for the days.

    Tuesday 7th September 1-3pm ‘Herbal Home Remedies’

    Working with Elder– getting ready for the Winter months. Plus preparing herbal infused oils for making creams and balms.

    Taught by Feed Avalon member Julia Bedford. Julia is a community chef and artist now training to become a herbalist.

    Tuesday 14th September 1-3pm ‘Garden to Plate’

    Cooking on a budget- frugal style! Guest tutor Lesley Gates will be showing us how to make many delicious dishes with our garden bounty and store cupboard provisions.

    Lesley Gates is a community chef, organiser and waste food redistributor. Lesley can be seen doing ‘Frugal Feeding’ demonstrations on Bridgwater’s The Purplespoon Cafe Facebook page.

    Tuesday 21st September 1-3pm ‘Garden to Plate’

    ‘Eat for Health’. New Feed Avalon member Elle Tipping will be joining us to share an introduction to her ‘Eat for Health’ programme. “Develop your understanding of the body, nutrition and your own relationship with food to become empowered in your choice.”  There will be discussion and tasty recipes made over the workshop. She will be joined by vegan chef Amber of Little Acre Kitchen. www.thelittleacrekitchen.com

    Tuesday 28th September 1-3pm ‘Garden to Plate’

    Preserving and Fermentation. Join Julia Bedford and Michelle Darnell-Roberts in chutney and kraut making with harvest time gluts.

    Feed Avalon member Michelle Darnell-Roberts is a passionate gardener and community chef. She is the primary grower at Brooke End, the permaculture demonstration site used by Feed Avalon for courses and workshops.

    Tuesday 5th October 1-3pm ‘Herbal Home Remedies’

    How to make creams and balms. Using plants from the garden to soothe and nourish the skin and body.

    Tuesday 12th October 1-3pm ‘Herbal Home Remedies’

    Winter concoctions. Using roots and spices for Fire cider plus herbs to help relieve colds and flu.

    Herbalist Julie Bruggeman Webster will be joining us in the garden creating remedies to help us through the winter months. Plus Julia Bedford will be introducing various herbs to help relieve colds and flu.

    Tuesday 19th October 1-3pm ‘Herbal Home Remedies’

    Earthlight Herbs Co-operative. Herbalists Beth and Tiffany will be joining us as Guest Tutors .

    They will be introducing their project, plants and showing us how to make some herbal remedies.

    Tuesday 26th October ‘Garden to Plate’

    Pizza Making.  In our final workshop  we will be firing up the wood fire oven to cook to hail in Samhain and the darker months.

    Huggy Gee of ‘Pizza and Puppets’ will be teaching us how to prepare dough and a tomato passata. Plus please bring any of your veggie gluts for tasty toppings.

    The teaching session will be from 1 to 3 pm however we are going to extend after until 5 so others can join us in pizza making and eating.
